First and foremost I should introduce myself. For those who don't know me I'm Mr Bond and I'm one of the staff who are travelling to Wales with the Yr7 trip during the summer of 2010. The idea came up that a "real time " record of the events of the week would be a good idea. The reasoning for this is that it was felt that it might be nice for parents to see what their offspring are getting up to during the week. I must stress that this is not a tool for contacting the young people on the trip as one of the main points of going away is to gain a little independence and confidence, there are emergency numbers available in the parent's pack for this purpose.
The plan (mobile Internet permitting) is to write 3 times a day. Once just before breakfast saying what all the groups will be doing, once during lunch reporting on the morning's activities, and once during the evening with a review of the day.
I will be assisted in the evening blog by a representative from each group or tent and it will contain a humorous "letter home" from an imaginary student.
I must stress that no individual student will be identified photographically though there may be photos of activities put on the blog. It would be great to hear from any members of staff or parents during the week but please try to keep your comments general and encouraging.
Having gone on this trip last year, I am very excited about this week. I think I can safely say it is the best trip which the school does. I've put some photos from last year up so that you can get an idea of what goes on.
We'll see you all early on the morning of 12th July.

I've just been woken up by a noisy aircraft here. I bet you don't have that problem where you are. Have you noticed how quiet it is where you are? Stop and see if you can hear cars and planes when you are all going to sleep? Have you seen any low flying RAF planes or is it too cloudy for that?
ReplyDeleteGood Morning boys and girls, hope you have all slept well and are having a fab time. Get some good breakfast and off you go for another exciting day! On your way perhaps someone can stop by the office and connect to the internet so the rest of us sitting on the other side of the Severn can get a flavour of how it's all going. Enjoy!

Day 4 in the wilds of Wales - no DS, no computer, no mobile phone signal...sounds like the stickiest situation since Sticky the stick insect got stuck on a sticky bun...
ReplyDeleteI want a picture of that waterfall someone!
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a ball. The weather here is horrible so hate to think what life in a tent is like. Hope you have made loads of new friends and are loving every minute despite the weather

Lots of love.
Katy's Mum, Dad, Sister, Pippen & Smudge
Has anyone heard how they are all getting on? Would love to know.
ReplyDeleteKurtus's Mum, Dad and Sister
Just seen the forecast for today and tomorrow, unlucky! The rain and wind should stop at the exact point you all get on the coach to come home. Well it would be boring if it was dry and sunny wouldn't it? You'll never forget it, that's for sure. Can't wait to your faces as the coaches pull in to the school tomorrow night.
ReplyDeleteHope you have all had brillant day.... good to know the money spent on waterproofs has been money well spent..... Get a great nights sleep and make sure you make the most of your last day tommorrow.. love Hannah's mummy
